Watchdog says Google ignores requests to erase state insulting video

MOSCOW, Aug 16 (PRIME) -- Google has ignored three times requests of the Russian communications service to delete a video on its YouTube that offenses the country’s state symbols, a watchdog spokesperson told PRIME on Friday.

“Video hosting YouTube does not always duly respond to demands of the communications service to delete illegal content. On July 31 the service received a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office to erase a video from one of the pages that evidently offenses Russia’s symbols of state,” the spokesperson said.

The service is in constant dialogue with the U.S. company, but such contacts do not always end up favorably.

“We believe Google would respect the demand to delete the illegal content from the video hosting’s page, keeping in mind that the previous demands, also connected to deletion from YouTube of materials dishonoring the Russian symbols of state had been followed,” the spokesperson said.
